Celebrating Innovation & Connectivity: School ICT Day..............

In a world constantly evolving with technology, the importance of information & communication technology(ICT) education cannot be overstated. The year 2023 marked an exciting milestone as schools across the global celebrated School's ICT Day. A day dedicated to recognizing the transformative power of ICT in the realm of education. In this blog, we'll delve into the highlights of school ICT DAY in 2023 and explore how it has become an essential part of the educational landscape.

After holding the ICT Day in 2016, we haven’t held such an ICT-related function in our school. We were unable to hold this event due the escalation of the CORONA VIRUS and some other reasons in our school system. In the immediate meeting held on 1st April in 2023, there was a proposal to hold an ICT Day in the school this year. We were able to make the proposal we received that day on 8th August 2023 under the name “TECHNOVOLUTION’23”. The ultimate purpose of this day is to launch social media accounts related to the school and re-establish the school ICT Club. And also giving awarding prizes and certificates to the winners of ICT competitions held last month in our school.

The star of the ICT Day is our school’s ICT Club. In our ICT Club, there are 21 officials including the president of the ICT Club with Grade 10,11,12,13 ICT students in our school. In the ICT Club, Sayuni Senanayake was appointed as the president, Sajana Rebecca as Vice President & Sandali Tharunya as Secretary. The school ICT Club is more than just a club; it’s a community of like-minded students who share a passion for technology whether it's coding, web development, or multimedia design, these students are always eager to explore and learn. The school ICT Club takes learning to the next level. It offers students the chance to delve deeper into technology, explore advanced concepts, and develop practice skills. Members of the school ICT Club are often faced with challenging problems to solve. Whether it's debugging q complex code or troubleshooting a hardware issue. They learn to preserve and find solutions independently. The school ICT Club is a thriving testament to the passion, hard work, and dedication of its members. Through their relentless pursuit of knowledge, innovation, and technical skill, they not only enrich their own lives but also contribute to the ever-advancing world of technology. These young tech enthusiasts are the future engineers, developers, designers, and innovators who will shape our digital landscape and their journey in the school. ICT Club is just the beginning.

On the school’s ICT DAY, the culminated of the event was the heart-warming moment when students received their well-deserved certificates. It was a scene filled with pride, accomplishment and a touch of formality. The certificates printed on high-quality paper with the school emblem and a touch of digital artwork, were a symbol of achievement. And the certificates were themed by our school’s ICT Club.

The establishment of an ICT Club’s social media accounts marked a significant milestone in the Club’s journey towards embracing technology and connectivity. Here’s a description of how this exciting development unfolded in the ever-evolving landscape of technology. The school’s ICT Club took a huge step forward by creating its own presence on social media platforms. It was a momentous occasion, as the club recognized the importance of not only mastering technology and also effectively communicating and sharing their passion with a wider audience with a burst of enthusiasm, club members set up vibrant and engaging profiles on popular social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and even platform like ‘blogger’ to showcase their professionalism. Each profile was created by the ICT Club and they are maintaining by the ICT Club.

On that day, not only elements related to ICT but also aesthetic elements were done by the ICT students in our school. There was a song item, sung by Grade 10,11 students, a technology related dance item, with Grade 10,11,12 students & orchestra item with ICT Club committee members. With these items, the stage came alive with a dazing display of technology and artistry. ICT Club committee members are dressed in an array of vibrant outfits from tech-themed costumes to t-shirts with creative tech-related designs made by our ICT Club.

As we celebrate school ICT Day, let’s take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to our ICT teachers. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Amali Dodangoda, Mrs. Shanika Gamage & former teacher Mrs. Nirmika Dassanayake, your passion, dedication and hard work have not only enriched our lives but have also proved the way for a brighter and more technologically advanced future. Thank you for your unwavering support, and guidance and for being the driving force behind our ICT journey. Your influence will continue to shape our lives long after we leave these school hallways. Also for our Principal Rev. Sr. Maria Riana, thank you for your vital support in making school ICT day a success. Your vision and encouragement empower us to embrace technology and innovation. Your commitment to education inspires us all.

Rev. Fr. Ranjith Andradi came as the chief guest and York Graduation Campus the Guest Speaker came to our school that day and taught the students something new. We would like to thank them for accepting our invitation & gracing this occasion. There are 4 schools, that came into our school on that day. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the schools that graced our school ICT Day with their presence. Your participation added an extra layer of excitement and collaboration to our event, making it truly special. It was an honor to have you join us celebrating technology and innovation in education. We hope that your visit was as rewarding and inspiring for your students as it was for ours.
