School Day and Prefects' Investiture 2023

Happy 88th Anniversary of St. Paul's Girls' School and A New Beginning.................

In the year of 1935, Rev.Father Maurice Jin Legoc founded St.Paul's Girls' School on the site of St.Joseph's Research Farm in Kelaniya Waragoda. Since the inception of the school and as our school's patron is St.Paul the school day has been celebrated on 29th June every year.  It was a tradition to celebrate the school's anniversary and the feast of St. Paul every year. Since June 29 was a holiday this year, the school day ceremony was held on 30th of June. 

As for the Chief Guest Rev. Father Gamunu Dias the National Director of Catholic Education, Guests of honor  Rev. Farther Dilantha Fernando the Archdiocesan Assistant Administrator(Land & Property), Rev. Sr. Mary Nimalka  Provincial Councilor for Education of Apostolic Carmel Congregation, Rev. Sr. Mary Siyeni Principal of the St. Antony's Girls' School, Colombo 09, Rev. Sr. Mary Sajeewani Principal of  All Saints College, Colombo 10, Two Rev. Sisters from the Carmel Convent Waragoda, One Rev. Sister from the Carmel Convent Colombo 10 and Miss. Teckla Fonseka and Mrs. Kumuduni Rathnakanthi former deputy principals of Our school's were attended to this special occasion.

The traditional oil lamp was lit by the invited guests commencing the event. Later, the welcome speech was delivered by Miss. Sajani Faith the Deputy Head Prefect. A cultural dance was performed by our school's eastern dancing team. After that our school's Principal Rev.Sr. Maria Riana paid homage to Very. Rev. Fr. Moris J. Legoc.

Then came the big moment everyone was waiting for. Pinning Badges for the prefects. Prefects investiture of St.Paul's Girls' School 2023 was held on the very same day.
Sajana Rebecca was sworn in as the Head Prefect and Sajani Faith, Binarshi Bethmini, and Piyumi Nethsarani were sworn as the Deputy Head Prefects. Tharushika Patima was sworn in as the Games Captain and Dinethmi Tharumila was sworn in as the Vice Games Captain. In addition, 10 Official Senior Prefects, 11 Senior Prefects,24 Stewards, and 14 Junior Prefects were elected. The new prefects all assumed their duties after taking their Oath. The school wishes them good luck in their future endeavors. Our school's orchestra presented their rendition to the delight of all the invitees. The ceremony concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.

It was a wonderful moment in our school life. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to our Sister Principal, Deputy Principals, All the teachers, the board of prefects, and the students who dedicated themselves to this occasion. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped us with supportive words for this event.
