සුබෝදානි......... The Sinhala and Tamil New Year or else Aluth Avurudda in Sinhala and Puthandu in Tamil is a traditional festival celebrated by the Sinhala and Tamil communities in Sri Lanka. The festival usually falls on April 13th which is known to be the conclusion of the old year and 14th which is known to be the beginning of a new year. The Sinhala and Tamil New Year is a highly anticipated cultural festival in Sri Lanka. On April 29th, 2023, St. Paul's B.M.V celebrated the Sinhala and Tamil New Year with its students & teachers. It was a memorable and festive occasion which filled with happiness and excitement. The celebration started with the lighting of the hearth, known as the Kiri Ithireema in Sinhala, which is a significant symbol of prosperity in this celebration.
